回複:大家幹嘛都超速?

This is one of the most stupid things in North American originated from English culture in which speeding is related to killing. However, none wants to reduce the speed of any airplane once an accident happens.

The current speed limits can be traced back to 60’s and 70’s. No change has been made since then regardless of the advancement of automobile technologies.

The freeway with the highest speed limit in North American is the Interstate 10 in Texas, which is 80 mph during working hours. The reason to increase the speed limit is to resolve the traffic jam. No specific higher fatality has been reported since the speed limit was raised in 2006, so do the unlimited Autobahn in Germany.

People driving 5 to 10 mph above the speed limit are doing the best they can before being forced to pay something to the state revenue.

The comfortable driving speed in freeway should be around 100 mph ~ 120 mph, particularly with a German car. Beyond that, the automobile technology comes into play.

In my view, setting a low speed limit has at least two advantages:

1) It protects the auto industry in North American by preventing the German cars from demonstrating their technical advantages.
2) It enrich the state/provincial revenue (your incoming taxes will be increased if the speed limits are increased).

I am welcoming comments to my statements ...
