I don’t know if your lawyer friend is ready to help you or not. But, I guess people are supposed to tell the truth unless they are able to fabricate a legally sounded story. In your case, had you told the police officer that you saw the lady before she hit you, then you would have been asked a question like “you saw her approaching you, why don’t warn her or change your course accordingly.” I guess you would have prepared answers to this question. The true issue in your case is who actually changed the lane. The initial result seems to be against you. One possibility to turn it around is to phone UPS trying to contact to the driver. There are two possibilities the driver can help you:

1) He/she saw the accident and will tell the truth, and
2) He/she can make a statement then he/she parked the vehicle on the (right) lane (not the lane you were driving) at the same location and the time when the accident happened.
