Why did I dream of you last night?  緣何夢君？

 

Why did I dream of you last night?                            緣何夢君？

Now morning is pushing back hair with grey light      拂曉暗褪

Memories strike home, like slaps in the face;            舊憶叩扉

Raised on elbow, I stare at the pale fog                     以肘支頤

beyond the window.                                                 透窗凝霧

 

So many things I had thought forgotten                  原以皆忘

Return to my mind with stranger pain:                    豈料憶潰

—Like letters that arrive addressed to someone      似箋翩至

Who left the house so many years ago.                  昔人已去
