綠遍山野白滿川，
子規聲裏雨如煙。
鄉村四月閑人少，
才了蠶桑又插田。

 

April Villages by Weng Juan (Southern Dynasties)

 

The rills don clear veil, the hills wear emerald shield,

Calls of cuckoos resound in the skies mist concealed.

Lo, few idle April village hands — from silkworms  

To mulberry, from silk-spin to rice fields, they yield.
