A Verse by Li Bai
(A Visit to Dai Tian Mountain, Yet the Daoist is Out)
Dogs bark, streams gurgle, echo on echo,
Pink peach petals, all bathe in dew so clear.
Deep through the woods, I see deer come and go.
At noon, nigh the brook, no bell rings, I hear,
Yet discern bamboos in brume, high and low,
A cascade hangs from th’ peak, as I draw near.
He is out, but whereabouts, none doth know.
I lean betwixt pines, two or three, sans cheer.
