《詩經 小雅 鶴鳴》

 

鶴鳴於九皋，聲聞於野。

魚潛在淵，或在於渚。

樂彼之園，爰有樹檀，其下維蘀。

它山之石，可以為錯。

 

Cranes cry from the vast wetlands far away,

Their call resounds from the wild land.

In the deep waters fishes stay,

Or swim by the islets of sand.

In this joyful garden so grand

Grows many a sandalwood tree,

Though neath which withered leaves strand.

The stones of other hills can be

Made as a hone of high degree.    

鶴鳴於九皋，聲聞於天。

魚在於渚，或潛在淵。

樂彼之園，爰有樹檀，其下維榖。

它山之石，可以攻玉。

 

Cranes call across the wildlands far away,

Through the welkin resounds their cry.

In the deep waters fishes stay,

Or betwixt the islets swim by.

In this blissful grove neath the sky

Lives many a sandalwood tree,

Though neath which withered leaves lie.

The stones from other hills can be

Used to hone gems of high degree.
