又一首生命的祭文

這回是一個同事的祖母去世，她發給我她寫的祭詩，我也試著翻譯了一下：

原文：

Thank you all for the beautiful plant you sent and condolences on losing my grandma, I am very touched by your thoughtfulness.  Growing up I lived with my gram every summer and she was very special to me, and I miss her.  She was a great author and as I prepare for her eulogy I will leave you with one of her poems. 

The Inevitable 

Stranded as I am on the brink of time

 Meditating what the future holds

With body past its youth and prime

I welcome this growing old.

 

When l was young I longed to conquer

Life’s challenges that ever came each day

I watch the roses bloom in their glory

Then much too soon they fade and pass away.

 

Clinging to this fragile thread of time

I, like the rose, have but one short span,

To weave my threads into life’s glorious pattern,

To leave my foot-prints in the shifting sands.

譯文：

人生終局 

我徘徊在時間的邊緣
冥想著未來的軌跡
當生命經曆了豐美的周期
微笑著優雅地老去。
 
年輕時我們渴望征服
生活的挑戰從不休止
而玫瑰花嬌豔盛放

 旋即魂斷香銷淤泥

 

我盤纏著脆弱的時間線

編織我輝煌的生命圖案

猶如玫瑰驚鴻一現

在流沙上印下我的足跡

由此我聯想起蘇東坡的<和子由澠池懷舊>：

人生到處知何似？　

應似飛鴻踏雪泥：

泥上偶然留指爪，

鴻飛那複計東西！

老僧已死成新塔，

壞壁無由見舊題。

往日崎嶇還記否？

長人困蹇驢嘶！

 蘇軾終是太灰，還是我同事的原詩好。生命如驚鴻如浮萍，願我們都珍惜每一天，好好愛身邊的人吧！
