A Blooming Tree
By Xi Murong
How much I wish you could meet me
When I am at my most beautiful?
For this,
I've prayed to Buddha for 500 years.
Prayed to him to grant me a chance in a worldly life.
Buddha, then turned me to a tree,
Growing on the path you will walk along,
In the sun, blooming lushly and discreetly.
And every flower presents the keenness of my past lives.
When you come near, may you carefully listen?
Those trembling leaves
Are my enthusiasm of expectation.
Without even noticing me, finally, you've passed by.
Behind you, falling on the ground,
My dear, is my not flower petals,
But my withered heart.
