與房東的爭執-急須幫助

In 2007, there was a hail in our area. Since then the roof of our apartment leaked once it rained. ALso the bathroom was uninsulated and kept leaking to the kichen whenever somebody took shower. After we complained several months, the problem was not solved. The landlord had a fight with the insurance company over who should pay the bill. We had to reported to the code complain office and they send letters urged the landlord fixed roof. The conditions got worse and the apartment was unihibitable. In Sep.2009, the rented apartment still leaked in rainy days or when we took shower. We buought a new house and left the rented apartment before the end of the lease. Now the land lord is asking us to pay the rental fee, and appliance, utility fees.We may have to fight for him in the court.

Here are the facts:

1. We have letters and photoes from city officer that showed the house  damaged and uninhibitale.

2. Our lease says that if the house the damaged by casues unrelated to the leasses, our lease should be terminated.

3. Not good for us: when we left the apartment, we had a letter said: because of... damage we decided to move. We move the only reason is we have a new house.( I sould say because of the damage of the house).

4. The landlord should have the house ready within two weeks after we move, but after two mnths, we still could not see the houses in their paper advisement.(normally they put all their houses immeadiatedly after its vacancy).We believ this because the house was still leak and not ready at that time. We asked the manager several times and he just does not want let us known when the house was fixed.

5. We now received their letter asking us to pay more than $10,000 from the company and the money collector. Please help me give you kind advise. can I win the case in the court.
