I was pre-diabetic last year. Among other things,

I stopped eating refined flour (e.g., freshly-baked artisan white bread)
and white rice and switched to whole wheat bread and brown rice.
It seemed to fix both my weight and blood sugar problem.

But your husband doesn't have a weight problem.

What does the doctor say?
