墨西哥軍方和檢察部門２５日宣布，軍方１０年前繳獲的７．９萬多件武器的銷毀工作已經展開，但近年繳獲的數萬件武器仍將作為犯罪調查的證據繼續保存。
據報道，當局在墨西哥城一個軍事基地舉行了武器銷毀工作的啟動儀式。將被銷毀的這些武器已在政府倉庫內保存多年。
墨國防部說，自２００６年底總統費利佩·卡爾德龍執政以來，軍方已收繳武器３．５萬多件。這些武器將繼續保存，因為它們仍是犯罪調查的證據。
墨西哥方麵說，卡爾德龍執政以來，已有１．１萬多人死於販毒團夥的槍支暴力犯罪，這些槍支大部分來自美國。
