“Music and Lyric” was one of the romantic comedies released in 2007, which belonged to one of my favorite types of movie.
Alex was an out of date pop star, who only performed in some state fairs, and his popularity apparently burned out. To refresh his career, he had to accept the opportunity of writing a song for the most popular star nowadays. He happened to find his neurotic plant lady Sophie to be talented on writing and managed to persuade her to collaborate with him. During their work together, romantic chemical emerged between them. After twists and turns, they finally found their way back into love.
The story was simple. But it was true that people need to be inspired from time to time to find themselves again and need to be supported so that people could be standing all the time. I like the saying in the movie. “The melody is like seeing someone for the first time and the physical attraction. When you get to know the person that is the lyrics, their story. It is the combination of the two that makes it magic.”
I like the leading actor and actress, Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Drew was still like a next door girl in this movie, while Hugh shocked me a little bit. Because I never thought he could play a pop star. He always impressed me as a British gentleman. He did a great job in this movie by singing and dancing by himself.
I really enjoyed the romantic love story and all the songs in the movie in the raining, gloomy and depressing afternoon. The movie somehow brightened my day.
