My Dearest Son,
Today is Mother’s Day. I was just back from Indy. As I checked in at the airport, one of the staffs greeted me “Happy Mother’s Day”. At that moment, I was so happy and proud.
Two years ago, when you were still living in my body; I was surprised and thrilled to receive the first Mother’s Day greeting card in my life. The card was from Aunt Janet, on behalf of you. It said “媽媽,我愛您!” in Chinese, signed with your Chinese name. Her husband’s Chinese colleague wrote for her.
On Mother’s Day, one expresses love to his/her mother. However, I want to say: “Thank you, my boy. Because of you, I have one more holiday every year”.
I am grateful to you since you fulfilled my dream of being a mother, which is one of the greatest careers for women. I am grateful to you for I experienced the process of generating and nurturing a baby, which is one of the miracles on the planet. I will never forget your movement in my body, which always brought me joy. I will never forget how adorable you were and how sound your sleep was in my cuddle, when I really felt what a mom meant. I will never forget the touch of your little warm body, so soft and pure. I will never forget your attempt to reach me as soon as I was back from work, which reminded me of the strongest bond between parents and their children…… Too many sweet memories.
My prince, when you first called me Mommy, my heart melted. Whenever I hear you thereafter, this feeling will be back. Meanwhile, happiness and satisfaction have been added in. My life has been so meaningful since you have been with me. Because of you, I try to improve myself, to understand deeply how to love, how to forgive and how to appreciate. I often imagine what you look like 5, 10 or even 20 years later. I often dream about holding your hand and walking along with you on a sunny day or watching you to play with your friends. I often picture the scenes when you are painting or playing music instruments in the near future. Like every mother in the world, I have expectations for you. Nevertheless, I hope you will happily enjoy being yourself.
Thank you for being my son. You are my angel and my bliss, forever.
Love,
Mom
My belated Happy Mother's Day to you.
Rebecca
So you know what Cleveland looks like. However, downtown is the worst part. I seldom go there. The whitecollars have moved to the East.
Well, Son's Day, a terrific idea. Don't you think everyday is son's day for us?
Nice seeing you again.
