魚骨在哈特拉斯的波濤中行走。

還有其他跡象

死亡引誘我們，在水中，引誘我們，

在陸地：鬆林深處，

一條舒展開的棉口蛇在苔蘚上翻滾，

在汙濁的空氣中昂首。

其實難以承受的，是誕生，不是死亡，

我知道。我也在那裏蛻過一層皮。

    That Death wooed us, by water, wooed us

    By land: among the pines

    An uncurled cottonmouth that rolled on moss

    Reared in the polluted air.

    Birth, not death, is the hard loss.
