語言的魅力

在當今短視頻充斥日常生活的時代，純語言文字似乎不斷被淡化甚或遺忘。不禁要為之作一呼喊。語言是人類思想的基礎。我們的思考、思想，是每時每刻在大腦中以字句語言形式連綿進行，圖片、場景隻為輔助或衍生品。文字是人類文明最重要的奠基。西周青銅器年代久遠固然難得，但最寶貴的不是其造型工藝或材料，而是上麵的銘文，記載了文明早期的寶貴記實。中西文明，都有詩 – 語言的精華 – 為源頭：中華有詩經，西方有伊利亞特奧德賽。在現實生活中，一切受物理規律限製、規範。但文字的思想，可以瞬息縱橫寰宇、糅合古今。超光速的，隻有思想。

中華文明有幾千年的沉澱與優秀文字產出，我們沁潤其中並為之驕傲。容易忽略的是，西方文化同樣有很多瑰麗的語言文字作品，其內容、形式都極其吸引。而西方的想象力與激情，更多有獨到超越。同作為人類文明的偉大成果，一樣值得我們去欣賞借鑒珍惜。

西方文字天花板級的代表，當屬莎翁。愛默生（Ralph W. Emerson）對其描述，很是傳神到位：“Shakespeare possesses the power of subordinating nature for the purposes of expression beyond all poets.  His imperial muse tosses the creation like a bauble from hand to hand, and uses it to embody any caprice of thought that is uppermost in his mind. The remotest spaces of nature are visited, and the farthest sundered things are brought together, by a subtle spiritual connection…All objects shrink and expand to serve the passion of the poet.”  (這段本身就是完美文字。) 

莎翁的十四行詩，很多綺麗而又深邃。比如下麵一首勸慰美好的人，周圍的詬病不過是對大美無傷的點綴，不過是天堂甜美空氣中飛過的烏鴉：

“That thou art blamed shall not be thy defect,

For slander’s mark was ever yet the fair.

The ornament of beauty is suspect,

A crow that flies in heaven’s sweetest air.”

又如下一首慨歎時光：

“Against my love shall be as I am now,

    With time’s injurious hand crushed and o’erworn;

When hours have drained his blood and filled his brow

    With lines and winkles; when his youthful morn

Hath travelled on to age’s steepy night,

    And all those beauties whereof now he’s king

Are vanishing, or vanished out of sight,

    Stealing away the treasure of his spring:

For such a time do I now fortify

    Against confounding age’s cruel knife,

That he shall never cut from memory

    My sweet love’s beauty, though y lover’s life.

        His beauty shall in these black lines be seen,

        And they shall live, and he in them still green.”

時光無情，會奪去最美好最愛的人的青春；但我要用文字捍衛。生命有限，但 “他的美會在這字裏行間永現；文字永存，愛人在其中永如綠色之春。”

蘇軾在前赤壁賦中，在勸慰感傷時逝的客人時，有段精彩的時空觀表述：“客亦知夫水與月乎？逝者如斯，而未嚐往也；盈虛者如彼，而卒莫消長也。蓋將自其變者而觀之，則天地曾不能以一瞬；自其不變者而觀之，則物與我皆無盡也，而又何羨乎!...。” 在蘇子這裏，將小我融入宇宙萬物，成為無限因果循環的一部分，已天人一體，無謂終息，也是正麵樂觀的。而在莎翁那裏，我、物兩分，但又有“人是萬物之靈長”的定位責任，發揮自我探索的奮鬥力量。正是這份力量，延伸到西方文藝複興科學文化探索，延伸到馬斯克的如科幻般的星際飛船。中西文明，本各有優勢特色。相互借鑒，不停吸納，方為人類文明共同進步之道。
