李白《靜夜思》的多種理解與英譯版本
“床前明月光，疑是地上霜。舉頭望明月，低頭思故鄉。” — 李白這首《靜夜思》是最平易、最廣為人知的古詩。它作於唐玄宗開元十四年（726）秋天，那年李白25歲，那是他離開家鄉“仗劍去國，辭親遠遊”的第三個年頭，他一生再也沒有回去。
那年他先後遊覽了金陵、蘇州、杭州、越州（紹興）、台州等地，然後北上至揚州。他住在揚州的旅館裏，病倒了。在九月十五日左右的一個晚秋之夜，一輪皓月當空，詩人思鄉之情油然而生，便寫下了這首流傳千古的小詩。
這麽簡單的詩似乎沒有什麽可說的，其實也不盡然。比如說，一千年來它有多個版本。還有對詞的解釋，特別是第一個字“床”怎麽解，就很有意思。大部分人把它按照臥具來解釋的，跟我們今天的床是同一個意思。然而，一些學者認為，這裏的床應解釋為胡床。胡床，亦稱“交床”、“交椅”，是古時一種可折疊的坐具，兩邊腿可合起來。類似今天的馬紮。我們今天說某人“坐第一把交椅”（當領導），其中的“交椅”就是胡床。古時候沒那麽多凳子，一群人大部分都是站著或坐地上，隻有地位高的才坐交椅。
“床”字還有另一個釋義，即 “井床”，也就是井的圍欄。有沒有道理呢？我們不妨看看李白自己的詩句。李白的《長幹行》中有：“郎騎竹馬來，繞床弄青梅，”這是成語“青梅竹馬”的來曆。詩中那個“床”字，好多人囫圇吞棗，一帶而過了。其實仔細想想，小孩不可能騎著竹馬繞著家裏的睡床跑。這裏的床，就是井邊上的圍欄。古時候“井床”是井欄的同義詞。我個人認為“井床”最有可能是李白《靜夜思》中“床”的原意，這樣解釋，全詩更自然，更合情理。
一千多年來，《靜夜思》至少出現過50種不同版本。 這麽多版本，其實就是少數幾個字詞的不同，然後在不同抄本有不同的排列組合。簡單地講，《靜夜思》主要有兩個流傳版本，一個是我們此處用的版本，它是“新版”，來自清乾隆二十八年（1763年）蘅塘退士（孫洙）所編的《唐詩三百首》。 “舊版”為宋代版本，最早載於宋蜀刻本《李太白文集》（卷六）：“床前看月光，疑是地上霜。舉頭望山月，低頭思故鄉。”
兩種版本中，第一和第三句各有一個字的出入。舊版的“床前看月光”，在“新版”中被嵌進一個動詞，這樣意思似乎更完整，每一句都是省略主語的句子。而新版中的第一句是個片語，比較輕靈，而且加一個“明”字，增加了月光的亮度，作為起興似乎更好。第三句中，有學者認為“山月”的說法更帶有文人氣，那時的文人詩常將月亮分為“山月”、“海月”等。而“新版”讓明月完全脫離了地理環境。
然而在學界，康熙皇帝欽定的《全唐詩》並沒有受到任何改動的影響。而近年出版的劉學鍇先生的《唐詩選注》中，《靜夜思》也用的是“舊版”。與此同時，“新版”的《靜夜思》顯然更為通俗和朗朗上口，在民間廣為流傳，並被收錄於中國大陸的小學語文教科書中。
這麽有名的小詩，肯定有許多英文翻譯。我很容易就在網上找到了幾個版本的英文翻譯。它們各有特色，對照閱讀頗有意思。我本人也嚐試了一下，放在最後—

我的翻譯，那是湊趣的，我知道我的英語水平。。。不過最後兩句從我本意來講，是想與原文有對應，又有必要的發揮，但恐怕結果不是很理想。

4) 博主博學，著文情理並茂。譯詩後兩句，恐有微瑕：As it is rendered, grammatically, it would infer that the moonlight was lifting your head, and the homesickness was bowing your head,

*“Home town”is British English.
非常同意“床”作“井欄”。“床”，在唐及唐以前就有“井欄”之意。杜甫有“翠柏深留景，紅梨回得霜。風箏吹玉柱，露井凍銀床。” 而《樂府·淮南王篇》有“後園鑿井銀作床”的記載。
