賀知章

 

（一）

少小離家老大(2)回，鄉音無改鬢毛衰(3)。

兒童相見不相識，笑問客從何處來。

 

（二）

離別家鄉歲月多，近來人事半消磨(4)。

惟有門前鏡湖(5)水，春風不改舊時波。

 

1. 偶書：隨便寫的詩。

2. 老大：年紀大了。

3. 衰：此處是減少的意思。

4. 消磨：(1).逐漸消失、消除；(2).消耗、折騰。

5. 鏡湖：湖泊名，在紹興會稽山的北麓。

Casual Compositions on Homecoming

1.

I left home young and small, but came back old and grown,

My native accent never changed, but sideburns a fading gray.

Kids met me, but no recognition shown,

And asked me smiling where’s my home.

2.

Away from home for many and many years,

Lately people and things have changed by half.

Only in the Mirror Lake in front of our door,

Spring breeze ripples the old waters as before.
