如果從字麵上逐字翻譯的話，這幾個字是說“蟲子停在這裏”，顯然這讓人不知所雲，但是如果你知道 美國第33屆總統Harry Truman 在白宮辦公桌上的那塊著名的牌子就會明白殺蟲公司的廣告語是啥意思了。

Truman 總統在二十世紀四五十年代任總統期間，他的朋友為他訂做了一塊木牌子，上書 The buck stops here. 他一直把這個牌子放在白宮的辦公桌上。這句話源自美國的諺語 pass the buck.

Pass the buck 的意思是，把責任推給別人。如果有人，諸如公司的客戶啥的，向你抱怨啥，你可以說”the buck stops here”，意思是說有啥抱怨都跟你說好了，你會負責做全權處理。

Truman 總統在他的講話中多次引用”the buck stops here”. 比如他在1953 年1月的總統卸任講話中說： The President--whoever he is--has to decide. He can't pass the buck to anybody. No one else can do the deciding for him. That's his job.
