道德經上篇:《道經》
第二十三章
【原文】
希言自然。故飄風不終朝,驟雨不終日。孰為此者,天地。天地尚不能久,而況於人乎。故從事於道者,同於道;德者,同於德;失者,同於失。同於道者,道亦樂得之;同於德者,德亦樂得之;同於失者,失亦樂得之。信不足焉,有不信焉。
【譯文】
不言政令少擾民是合乎自然的,所以再大的狂風也刮不過一個早上,再大的暴雨也下不了一整天。誰製造的狂風暴雨呢?是天地。興風起雨尚且不能持久,何況人呢?所以從事於道的,就同於道;從事於德的,就同於德;失道失德的,行為就是暴戾恣肆。凡是同於道的人,道也會樂於得到他;凡是同於德的人,德也樂於得到他;凡是同於失道失德的,就會得到失道失德的後果。統治者的誠信不足,人民自然不會相信他。
English Translation

To speak little is natural.
High winds will not howl the entire morning;
A downpour will not last the entire day.
Who is behind the wind and the rain?
Heaven and earth.
Even heaven and earth cannot last long;
How can humanity?
Therefore, those who follow Tao identify with Tao;
Those who have virtue identify with virtue;
Those who are lost identify with loss.
Tao accepts those who identify with Tao;
Virtue welcomes those who identify with it;
Loss embraces those who identify with it.
Distrust is due to lack of faith.
