安樂哲（Roger T. Ames），1947年生於加拿大多倫多。倫敦大學亞非學院博士（1978）。曾任夏威夷大學哲學係教授（1978年至2016）、夏威夷大學和美國東西方中心亞洲發展項目主任（1990年至2013）、《東西方哲學》（Philosophy East and West）主編（1987年至2016）、任《國際中國書評》（China Review International）主編（1992年至2016）。
研究領域：中西比較哲學，美國實用主義哲學

安樂哲早年喜歡寫詩，後參加交換生項目赴香港進修，曾師從新儒學學者勞思光等人。他於1970年獲不列顛哥倫比亞大學學士學位，1973年獲同一學校碩士學位。1978年獲倫敦大學亞非學院博士學位，之後赴夏威夷大學馬諾阿分校任教。1987年起任《東西方哲學》編輯，1991年至2000年春擔任夏威夷大學中國研究中心主任。[1][2]

安樂哲提倡通過中國文化自身的話語體係理解中國哲學，而不是以西式概念去折射。其主要著作有《儒家角色倫理學》、《通過孔子而思》、《期望中國：探求中國和西方的文化敘述》和《先賢的民主：杜威、孔子及中國的民主希望》等等。
