對前領導特朗普毫不手軟，黑利：75歲以上的政客要做心理測試

美國前駐聯合國大使黑利日前已宣布參加2024年的總統選舉，她還對那些年過75歲的政客的能力提出質疑。
據美國Politico新聞網站2月15日報道，黑利15日在南卡羅來納州的一場競選集會上說：“我們將對國會的任期進行限製，我們要讓75歲以上的政客接受強製性的心理測試。”
她還說：“我們準備好了。我們已經準備好擺脫過去的陳腐思想和褪色的名字，我們已經準備好迎接帶領我們走向未來的新一代（領導）。美國的黃金時期還沒有過去。隻是我們的一些政客已經過時了。”
報道稱，這些言論無疑是在攻擊她唯一公開的黨內對手——76歲的特朗普，以及80歲的美國拜登總統。
黑利說：“我們的事業是對的，但是我們沒有贏得大多數美國人的信任。好吧，這一切要在今天結束。如果對失敗感到厭倦了，就把你的信任寄托在新一代身上。如果你們不僅想作為一個政黨贏得勝利，而且想作為一個國家贏得勝利，那就和我站在一起吧。”
據悉，黑利當地時間2月14日宣布競選美國總統，由此成為第一位正式挑戰她的“前老板”——美國前總統唐納德·特朗普，角逐共和黨提名的總統參選人。
黑利曾在2021年說過，如果特朗普參選，她就不會參與角逐。特朗普2月15日在接受福克斯新聞專訪時說，他很高興看到黑利參加2024年大選，她不用被過去的承諾束縛。

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on Wednesday highlighted the need for generational change and called for mandatory competency tests for politicians older than 75 during a speech launching her 2024 presidential campaign.
“In the America I see, the permanent politician will finally retire,” said Haley, who served as U.N. ambassador during Donald Trump’s presidency. “We’ll have term limits for Congress. And mandatory mental competency tests for politicians over 75 years old.”
The remarks are an undeniable strike against her only declared opponent, 76-year-old Trump, as well as President Joe Biden, who at 80 is the oldest person to hold the office.
Ready to move past the stale ideas and faded names of the past, and we are more than ready for a new generation to lead us into the future,” she told the crowd gathered in Charleston, S.C. “America is not past our prime,” she added. “It’s just that our politicians are past theirs,” she added.
Haley officially announced her bid in a 3 1/2-minute video posted to Twitter on Tuesday that highlighted her accomplishments as governor and alluded to a need for new leadership in the GOP.
“Republicans have lost the popular vote in seven out of the last eight presidential elections. That has to change,” Haley said in the video.
On Wednesday, she reiterated that sentiment.
“Our cause is right, but we have failed to win the confidence of a majority of Americans,” she said. “Well, that ends today. If you’re tired of losing, put your trust in a new generation. And if you want to win not just as a party but as a country, stand with me.”
Haley, a first-generation Indian American, also highlighted her background as a woman of color, something likely to differentiate her in a GOP primary. If she wins the Republican nomination, she will be the first woman and first Asian American to do so.
“Every day we’re told America is flawed, rotten and full of hate,” Haley said on Wednesday. “Joe and Kamala even say America is racist. Nothing could be further from the truth. The American people know better. My immigrant parents know better.”
But being the first isn’t why she’s running, the former governor said.
“All kidding aside, this is not about identity politics. I don’t believe in that. And I don’t believe in glass ceilings, either,” Haley said. “I believe in creating a country where anyone can do anything and achieve their own American dream.”
“It is unthinkable that Americans would look at the sky and see a Chinese spy balloon looking back at us,” Haley added. “China’s dictators want to cover the world in communist tyranny. And we are the only ones who can stop them.”
Though only the second candidate to enter the 2024 presidential race, Haley is polling behind two potential rivals for the nomination — Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has yet to say whether he’ll enter the race.
