Can democracy truly exist in a capitalistic country. Who do the politician favor when the interests of their political donors conflict with the voters they were sent to represent?

@Dennis Heyes  Thang you for concerning my comment.
The liberal democracy and its relied humane ideologies; actually it is to stir people ganging up to fight in legislature and stir people freely united to fight against government in society; by such a childish way messing own society as bubbling boiler and exhaustedly promotes such childish play globally to trigger refugees' wave globally.
Jan 5, 2019, article EU ON THE BRINK: German eurosceptics threaten 'DEXIT' unless EU parliament is ABOLISHED indicates that EU Parliament has 751 MEPs, 44,000 officials and 11,000 employees that cost over €8billion a year; 4,000 of those officials earn more than €290,000 a year in more than the German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s salary. Other report said that the MEPs have been spending more than €5m a year on alleged “fact finding” trips to some of the most luxurious destinations on the world, with the team of servants in average cost at €13,379 per person.
The democratic political design hopes that multi-party supervision may ensure a quality government; but without quality control on players; the multiparty supervision is used as maliciously opposition for replacing ruling position to enjoy luxury salary; luxury benefit and luxury political privilege. The fact revealed that the liberal democracy is the government of the individual, by the individual, for the individual by ruining social governance as exchanges.

We've seen how well Harper balanced the budget when he turned a Liberal Surplus of $13-Billion into a $57-Billion Deficit and added seven more Consecutive Deficits on top of it!..."Skippy" thinks that Canadians suffer from amnesia!

Inflation, taxes increasing, more carbon tax, and banning and confiscating of legally acquired personal property. Perhaps those are some of the reasons Canadians are so angry!

I'm personally not a conservative, but I can definitely agree with Mr. Poilievre's message here. "We see the problem, and we'll solve the problem, but please be civil." is a really refreshing change. If he can follow through and can back up these promises - and I really do hope he can - I won't care if he's a conservative or not.

@Sarah Yang  Not true. My mother, now retired, was a personal assistant for one of the Deputy Ministers at the time. My mother often worked with younger Pierre. He would have her send him certain documents to be approved to be signed by her boss. He overlooked things very closely and often would be known to delay things out of caution. We had a conversion a few weeks ago and we got talking politics and she recalls him saving her Minister a lot of problems and embarrassment. She described him as very professional, intelligent and very well educated with a keen eye for detail. I asked if she thinks he would be PM material and she said: Absolutely! FYI, my mother has always been a life long Liberal voter until recently. Hope this helps you a bit to make a more informed decision for our next Fed election.

Yes, it's amazing that Poilievre actually seems to comprehend the English and French language enough to understand that a question has been asked of him and then he actually gives an answer related to the question.
Trudeau and Freeland just appear that they are suffering from alzheimer's disease.

I’ve yet to meet a conservative politician who isn’t either. So why are so many listening to this tool, it’s because he can say he is not in power and therefore blame the other guy.

@TheTechnoPilot  it’s because he states facts and logic.. and he’s speaking out of concern for real Canadians who’s futures have been robbed (financially).. I can barely afford food as it is as a 21 year old, I show my expenses to my parents and they are baffled by it since I don’t do anything but save and work.. all I feel like is a tax payer

he's right.   But I would add how much the price of gas and diesel is affecting our food prices, knowing that they are planning to increase the taxes.  We had to make a choice between heat and using the car to get groceries.  and the tax is increasing on both.

The government also subsidizes those same companies to provide oil and gas cheaper to you - their trying to balance the cost to our current wallets vs the cost to our grandchildren's health. This shouldn't be hard to understand.

@Todd  Get rid of the carbon tax, because your grand kids won't even be born due to the high cost of living. Not hard to understand, Todd.

@Bingo  My rent in Alberta is over 1500/month and in income tax alone it costs me double that. Include GST, fuel taxes, etc. and it's ridiculous. This is in one of the lower-taxed provinces in Canada. It's not easy starting out as a young professional in Canada, let alone just trying to make ends meet.

@Graison Mitio  The taxes are low, which draws in lots of high-earners and pushes up demand which results in increased prices. Low taxes does not mean low living expenses and in fact, often means the opposite.

@Todd  The interesting thing is that it's so much worse in places with higher taxes. In my area, it's one of the better cases of cost of living for major Canadian cities. I think there's more to it than "low taxes draw in high earners"
