美國的公園不像中國公園那樣用圍欄圍著，界線分明。這裏的公園是開放的，公園景色就如水彩一般漫至了周邊。鎮公園占地廣闊，整個大園可視做由幾個小園組成，小園在功能上彼此獨立，但彼此之間銜接過度如水墨丹青一般舒緩流暢 。幾個小園分別是1。綠地運動公園區，園中的兩個小花園，兩2. 綜合遊樂場及棒球場區。3. 草場及林區。4.狗狗公園區。5.青年活動亭區。
In China, the public parks are usually walled or fenced. In US, the parks are opened without obvious borderlines. From my personal view, I feel the open parks create better environment. Town Park is a big park in diversity, based on the landscapes and functions, the entire park can be divided into a few areas. Each area can be seen an independent area, but all areas harmonize well.
Let’s start appreciate the entire park by walking in a loop. The starting spot is at the Green Grass Field Area.
- The Green Grass Field Area.
The Green Grass Field Area is the central of the entire Town Park. A black star gravel trail snakes through the Area, extending to the next functional part. The trail divides the Green Grass Field into two functional areas. The bigger part is fully opened, the spacious grass is a wonderful field to host soccer games or some other sports events. The other part accommodates two gardens, one reed pond, one small terraced pasture and assorted ornamental trees(one of each), the rest open space of this part is the location for some cultural recreational events hosted by town.
Walking out of the Green Grass Field, crossing a short road along which is a tree garden on the right side(since most of the trees are varied crabapples, so I name it crabapple tree garden), you will get to the next functional area---Complex Recreation Area.
- Complex Recreation Area.
The Complex Recreation Area consists of two baseball fields, one skateboard track, one play ground with a mini landscape garden, and Jane's Garden which consists of a pavilion, a place sit and remember, accompanied by flowers and small bushes around.
A dirt road lined with Japanese cherry blossoms trees on both sides leads to the Pastures and Woods Area from where people can acquire a feeling of immersing in the nature of countryside.
- Pastures and Woods Area
Pastures and Woods Area consists of three big pastures and a woods in decent size. The woods actually is a forested wetland in which a stream windingly flows through the low-lying areas, whether ponds or swamps being formed or not depends on the amount of rainfall in different seasons. There is a trail in the woods. With varied trees, the woods is a good habitat for many birds in various species. Walking in the woods, you will be companied by diverse music performed by the great musicians in nature. The musicians come and go with the changing of season and weather. blue gay, warbler, robin… are abundant here, even you don’t see them physically that often, you know they are always somewhere. Ducks are the regular guests of the pond( I name that pond “Fun Pond”), since they are not wary creatures, you can appreciate them relaxingly without worry of panicking them away. If you are luck, you even may meet some rare birds like red crown pileated woodpecker, owls, blue heron. The moments of my meeting them in person are good memories in my mind. I can still vividly recall the scenes.
Walking out of the woods, going along with one of the pastures on your side, you will get the Dog Park.
4. Dog Park
Dog Park is a playground and social place for dogs. Since people raise and treat their dogs like their family members. They would like to give the best to their dogs. Same as human beings, dogs like socializing. Town offers the service for the families having dogs at home.
Passing the Dog Park, keeping walking along a dirt side walk beside a small woods, at the end of the woods, having a right turn, you will get to Sky Pavilion Area. Every time when my feet hit the road in this Area, a special feeling would rise from my heart. It’s a place making me feel oriental Buddhism. Here I would temporarily lose the sense of my physical body, my soul would wander around, communicating with the pavilion, the trees, the lawn, the chopped wood chips, the squirrels, the birds, the ground, and the sky.
5. Sky Pavilion Area.
The Area is in between two small areas of woods. The spirit of the Area is Sky pavilion. Since one of the woods is accessible for recreation, I define that woods part of the Area. A black asphalt windingly divides the pavilion area and the woods area. For executing the maintenance work, the road is designed wide enough for the passing of two big trucks at the same time.
The Sky pavilion is a dark brown wood building somehow brings me a sense of Japanese architecture. After comparing the pavilion with traditional Japanese buildings, I knew where the sense came from. Some of the features from Sky Pavilion are applicable to the features of Traditional Japanese buildings, like the dark brown color, the all wood constructure, etc. Besides these, it’s the relationship between the pavilion and nature. Japanese home and building are seen as one with nature, all a part of the environment., there is no push or pull. Here I have seen the same idea, I feel the mutual understanding between the pavilion and the natural surroundings.
Sky pavilion can be reserved for private parties. There are deluxe tables which made from plain sawn lumbers under the roof of pavilion, on the adjoining lawn, there stand more tables and a couple of park grills.
The woods is a place for woods adventurers. In it there are varied challenging wooden facilities for fun and exercising. Besides the main trail, there are a handful of narrow small winding paths scattering in the woods, from which you can experience getting lost in the woods with excitement, but without being scared.
國內鮮花擺上，準備過年了
為期兩個月的SAT 網上補習周一開始了，課是他自願上的。翻開補習書，看到他做的筆記，字雖然醜，但已讓我高興不已了。
發現雪下是冰，所以道路奇滑，後悔穿錯了鞋，不過也借機找到了兒時在凍冰上滑來滑去的樂趣。
