Stay at home-Benefits of time alone
Coronavirus pandemic almost causes our county to shut down. The county law forces most people to stay at home except for essential workers. My family has two members working in front lines. One is working in a hospital for treating cancer patients. Another one is working in a Lab for supporting the food industry. They may never have the chance to work from home. I am proud of them. But, I deeply worry about them. God bless them to be safe and stay away from Coronavirus.
During this period, I become home alone. I pay my attention to the media. However, Fake news is spreading around the world. Some news made people panic and anxious. Stress-related mental problems may hurt people more than the virus. We are allowed to avoid the bad news and to terminate the toxic relationship with anyone who spread the hoaxes. The right attitude is to look for the benefits of stay-at-home. Such as:
1. Clear your mind: The Stay-at-home lets us slow down our steps. Every day, thousands of thoughts cross our minds. We may never have time to clean them. Taking this opportunity to let them go and empty your brain. Taking the time to enjoy the flowers around our yard and listen to the song of birds.
2. Become more focused: In this critical moment, I walked away from some chart groups, which bring out the stress in my life. Instead, I spend more time on my community group, which can bring out the positive energy in my life.
My friend, Ms. Thelma, focuses on Listening to Pastor sermons. She is comforting. She is praying that all are well...knowing that God is in control....and our FAITH is strong!
3.Improves your creativity: our neighbors have made their effort to sew several kinds of face masks to donate to hospitals and clinics. I have been encouraged to do the same things. I have a sewing machine, but I never know how to make a mask. Checking YouTube, sooner, I got an idea. Just do it!
4. Reset your priorities: the high school students participate in stay-at-home lessons, including cooking and art. during the coronavirus crisis, they turned into an effort to sew 1,000 face masks for themselves and the area community.
5. Improve your relationship: The stay-at-home connects friends together again. When I am home alone, I sent messages to my friends to greet them to be safe. We have not contacted each other for several years. This time, we got opportunities to hear from each other.
6. Help others going through a tough time: there are some people in our community that need assistance. A lady would like to cook and deliver a meal to them. She wants to share her blessings with others and be there for each other!
7. short the distance between family members: my friend is a single woman who lives in an empty nest. She is a quiet, beautiful lady, but her heart is full of a passion for helping others. Currently, she moves to her mom's house and takes care of her mom. They have started ordering their groceries online and having them delivered, so they don't go out much.
7 Share Useful Information: I have found the most people in our community didn't wear masks. That is really dangerous. I immediately posted a message on the community website, "W market sells one-time surgical masks, 5 pieces for $5.99. The masks are made in China. Latex gloves are also sold there. The store address is….There are a few big stores in Chinatown, which may sell too. Everyone wears a mask there."
I got a video from my friend. A smart lady even used a sock to make a mask with sewing. Very simple and fast. She does a video example in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish. However, It is very easy to follow without spoken instructions. I shared the video with my neighbors to help people who need masks. So far, around 70 persons have recommended the video to help more people.
