Great movie ,awesome cast. It was difficult to see Denzel in the role as an addict but he did it very convincingly. He showed so much integrity when asked at the hearing if the attendant had drank the vodka..i kept saying "you cant lie on a dead person and let their memory be tarnished".i dont know what the woman intended by trying to blame it on the dead attendant ,perhaps she was low key trying to take the heat off of him for the alcohol and help with his testimony. Addiction is a horrible thing,it not only destroys the users lives, but everybody they share it with.
Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington stars in this "riveting and powerful nail-biting thriller" from Robert Zemeckis the Academy Award® winning director of Forrest Gump and Cast Away. Airline pilot Whip Whitaker (Washington) miraculously lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe. But even as he's being hailed for his heroic efforts questions arise as to who or what was really at fault. Action-packed engrossing and powerful Washington's performance is being hailed as "a triumph2" and one that "will be talked about for years." -- Pete Hammond Deadline Hollywood, Richard Corliss TIME, Peter Travers Rolling Stone
Never saw this movie, until now. The first 30 minutes has my heart pounding. When he told the stewardess to tell her son she loves him for the BLACK BOX, I broke out in tears. I love every movie I've ever seen Denzel Washington in. 10 / 10

I celebrate my 17th sobriety anniversary this December 23rd. A close buddy of my mine will be sober for 7 years this Labor Day. One is of the 1st things I had him do when he got sobered up was watch this movie. He was watching and reading everything he could get his hands on about addiction and alcoholism and I told him that this was the closest thing I've ever seen for 2 reasons. 1. I was a pilot before changing careers and knew what flying while hung over felt like (have done that oxygen mask maneuver before). 2. This crash really happened (but was unsurvivable, sadly) to Alaska Airlines in 2000 to the exact same type aircraft for EXACTLY the same reason.
