I did not know her acting until "me before you" movie w/. Sam Claflin, which got me to search for Emilia Clark. Surprisely,
Game of Thrones takes place on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos in a setting that very much resembles the Middle Ages of Earth — though, as in many fantasy novels, there’s no specific correlation to Earth history. While the story contains common fantasy elements, such as swordplay, magic, and fantastical creatures like dragons, those elements are downplayed in favor of political intrigue and human drama.
The show depicts the three core storylines of the book series. The first is the continuing civil war between the various houses of Westeros, each vying for the Iron Throne and control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros — hence, the name Game of Thrones .
The three principle houses involved in this civil war are the Starks of Winterfell, the Lannisters of Casterly Rock, and the Baratheons of Dragonstone. At the start of the series, the Baratheons control the Iron Throne.
However, with the death of King Robert Baratheon, the Lannisters seize power when Robert’s wife Cersei Lannister becomes queen-regent after her son assumes the throne; Cersei’s brother, Tyrion Lannister , becomes their chief advisor. After that, many of the other houses rise up to fight Lannister control and claim their own right to the Iron Throne.
The second storyline takes place in Essos, a harsh land of mostly desert. Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter and last surviving heir to House Targaryen (which used to rule the Seven Kingdoms before the Baratheons came to power), seeks to build an army and return to Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne.
At first sold into marriage to the Dothraki tribal leader Khal Drogo by her older brother (who was later killed), Daenerys has become a powerful queen and has in her possession three dragons — a species thought instinct since the rule of the Targaryens. With her dragons and the massive army she’s building, Daenerys plans to cross the Narrow Sea, which separates the two continents, and defeat those who deposed and killed her father.
The third storyline takes place in the Northern part of Westeros at the massive ice structure called the Wall, which protects the southern lands from the “wildling” humans and supernatural creatures (such as White Walkers) that live “beyond the Wall.” Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Ned Stark (head of House Stark) enlists with the Night’s Watch, the small army stationed at the Wall that is charged with protecting the southern lands.
With the approach of a long winter, the Wall and the Night’s Watch are under siege from wildling invaders who seek to overtake the Seven Kingdoms. What’s happening at the Wall is mostly unknown to the rest of Westeros, and the peoples of the Seven Kingdoms are unprepared for the coming threat.

Beautiful person with a beautiful mind. I wish more of the world had compassion for themselves and others as Emilia portrays. I haven't watched her since got but wow she really is a beam of light in a room, her optimism & happiness is contagious even under a cloud of dark depression, I'm glad I watched this today.

I’m one of the few citizens on earth who’s never seen an episode of GOT (just not an interesting genre to me) but since I first stumbled upon Emilia on a late night talk show early on in the show’s run, I’ve been a big fan of hers. I think she’s just wonderful. Great smile, down to earth, and so incredibly charming.

I was like that, until my partner convinced me to watch it. The first four seasons surprised me with how much I enjoyed them, despite not being a fantasy lover. But yes, you don’t need to love GoT to love Emilia. :)

Oh, you don't know what you are missing (minus the last season), lol. Still worth checking out though and I promise you will be hooked after first episode as I don't think it's anything like you imagine it to be, genre-wise.

I was the same as you Shawn, it's just not my cup of tea, dragons & magic/fantasy, but that many people told me to watch it. So I binged watched it. I almost lost my job, going to bed at 3am and 4 am when I start work at 9. Game of Thrones is the best series ever made. When it finished, for a day or two I was thinking I may as well sell the TV's. I mean what do I watch now, nothing will ever be as good as GOT. All I can say is watch it, you are really missing out on a 'SPECTACULAR' series.

I started to watch GoT in 2019 when season 8 was about to launch. I binge watch all 7 seasons in, like 1-2 months. And guess who's my fave character? Dany a.k.a MoD (Mother of Dragons) a.k.a Emillia. And she will forever be my queen no matter how the show ends. I think you should watch GoT and you will fallin in love with her, more.

@Jim Jam You are being too harsh. I always knew from 5th season its going to go downhill thats every show ever made but there were still great moments and you kinda expected the grand finale will at least be good. Few episodes into season 7 I was like okay lets see where this is going at least it has potential... When did Jon and Daenrys meet? I dunno after that it was completely unwatchable.

I believe the brain has something like up to 2 million (it might even be 2 billion but I can't remember) cells on stand by, ready to be activated, strengthened and brought into recall in even the most productive person. It's truly incredible and Emilia is testimony to that. It's very inspiring.

I read her interview about what she went through having two strokes at such a young age. It really gives you an immense amount of respect for her and the medical staff. In addition to nearly dying, she also had to deal with both the physical and mental recovery without knowing whether she'd ever be able to act again. Stories like this are important because stroke awareness needs to be more well known, especially for young adults.

It is so good to know that fame in and of itself is not very helpful to you as a person. As soon as I was old enough to watch and understand "behind the scenes" episodes and see personal interviews with people who are considered world famous, I quickly realized that I do not want to be famous, because I do not want to forego the feeling of peace and tranquility, knowing that my leisure time can be as quiet and calm as I want it to be. I do not envy famous people for how much time they have to spend dodging paparazzis and constant phone calls asking them for interviews or any sort of appearance related to their fame.

That the director and producer just happened to find Emilia Clark speaks VOLUMES of undreamed thought. Just HOW did GOT evolve into this fantastic viewed story line of a good writer. IT DID EVOLVE as other films have been done, but mainly due to F/X CGI ! Kudos, and a ULTRA STRONG ^5 to all involved! There is a new level of CGI, Avatar and GOT which can only get better in thyme. (writer loves a good pun).

This is a truly RARE occurrence, where the FILM quite outshines the BOOK first written! The writer had NO IDEA had no thoughts atall that when he WROTE his Series that it would EVER OVERTAKE his writings and BECOME an event TOWERING above his own thoughts about it. The PRODUCTION GROUP has TOTALLY OUTSHINED the writer in how they SHOWED this dramatic story with FANTASTIC characters, and true follow through of the original thought. May I also say that the writer, George R. R. Martin is given a 110% for his writings, YET the FILM series ATTAINED a 150~~nay maybe even 200%. WHY do I say this? I have not seen the entire series of late, just peeks at events shown, and I have mentioned that it was wrong to kill an alpha female such as shown, just for the sake of the storyline. But in thinking of the entirety of the book, and then the quite vividly filming with such an OUTSTANDING cast of characters. WOW. Had the writer ever thought that his Heroine would be better in survival, but that is not how writings go! (I can reference a strong Sci FI book by Sir Isaac Asimov, "I ROBOT", when made into a theatrical mode, He had to walk away from the finished film as it deviated from his original writings!). This is life within the Motion Picture arena. AND GOT has superseded this by I would say 150%!
