美國高中必讀書目 1.0 版序言 ：
這個書單的書基本上都是美國高中的必讀書目，但是刪去了一些過於晦澀（比如 james joyce 的 Ulysses ）或者語言過於難懂（比如 Mark Twine 的 Adventure of Huckleberry Finn) 或者明顯戴著有色眼鏡看中國人的的
你隻要看過了這書單所有的書 (81 本），就相當於在美國讀了四年的高中英語（文學）課程，跟老美談文學藝術的素材就全足夠了
美國高中必讀書目精簡整理 2.0 版序言：
前天發過了書單以後，有正太反映書單過於長，不容易引起正太們的興趣，也傷害了他們閱讀的積極性，同時書的難易程度混雜，難以讓不同閱讀水平的同學們挑選適合自身閱讀程度的書
於是決定在這81本書裏麵再挑出63本組成《美國高中英語文學核心讀物》，並按照閱讀的難易程度（文字本身的難度和理解的難度）分成入門級（相當於九年級）、初級（十年級）、中級（十一年級）、高級（十二年級）分成四個等級，每個等級裏麵再分成Classics（經典）、British Literature（英國文學）、 American Literature（美國文學）、International Literature（世界文學》四個類別，每個類別裏都盡量含有各種文體（戲劇小說詩歌等）。
與美國高中閱讀書單1.0版相比，主要是去掉了
1. 過於艱澀難懂的： 比如Woolf
2. 主題重複的：比如bradley的Mists of Avalon
3. 大神級作者不那麽重要的作品：Dickens的Hard Times， Sophocles的Antigone, Ibsen的Heda Gabler
4. 對於大學生（畢竟本書單是開給大學生的）來說主題相對幼稚的：Frankenstein， Gulliver's Travels, Invisible Man
5. 已經失去了時代意義的： The Jungle
另外補充了
1. Gone with the Wind
2. Diary of a Young Girl
3. Daddy-Long-Legs
後兩本相對幼稚，但是在主題和文體上有特色
對於比較有爭議的幾本，考慮到本書單的開給純潔軟乎正太的，最終還是決定排除在正式書單以外，比如Lawrence的Lady Chatterley's Lover以及Nabokov的Lolita
同學們既可以從易到難按順序閱讀，也可以直接按照自己的閱讀水平選擇適合自己的讀物
