托克維爾在1848年寫過: ‘Democracy extends the sphere ofindividual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.'

 

民主擴張個人自由，社會主義限製個人自由; 民主賦予人價值，社會主義下人隻是一個工具，一個數字。民主和社會主義除了在一個詞語之外毫無共同指出。這個詞是。。。平等。注意這個區別: 民主尋求平等的自由，而社會主義尋求平等的奴役。

 

其實社會主義沒那麽平等。看過“ANIMAL FARM”的都知道那句最著名的引用:所有動物都是平等的，但是某些動物比其他動物更“平等”些。。。
