Scarborough Fair - 反戰版

北竹島選擇電影“畢業生”的插曲Scarborough Fair 作為個人網頁的背景音樂，因為太喜歡。

Scarborough Fair是英格蘭古老而重要的一個貿易集市，每年八月十五開場，國內外商賈雲集，曆時四十五天。從公元1253年英王Henry三世恩準開市到1788年壽終，活了500多年，相當於南宋寧宗繼位到乾隆皇上賜封小燕子為還珠格格這麽一段曆史時期。而英格蘭民歌Scarborough Fair則一直唱到今天而不衰。大概是太好聽了，引無數才子佳人競相添詞加調，於是有了許多不同的Version。本人用的是Simon & Garfunkel version，即反戰Version，Garfunkel在Simon的基礎上添加了反越戰的內容。點睛之筆是And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten。反戰Version成為68年電影“畢業生”的插曲，風靡美利堅。

我體會這首歌是一個越戰前線的士兵犧牲前唱給遠方心愛的姑娘的情歌。與情歌同步的是炮火硝煙。我仿佛聽到睡夢中呼喚集結的號角(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)和將軍們開火殺生的命令(Generals order their soldiers to kill)。仿佛看到一個士兵的生命漸行漸遠和遠方Scarborough集市上一個穿著中世紀英格蘭衣裙的姑娘。曲終，我很想說，珍惜活著，珍惜愛你的和你愛的人。
