蘇絲黃的世界 - The world of Suzie Wong

無意中看到關於“The world of Suzie Wong” 這本書的介紹，似乎國內現在有了中譯本。這是

英國作家李察·梅臣（Richard Mason）1957年出版的一本英文愛情小說，其後被好萊塢拍成電影，甚至被改編為舞台劇，芭蕾舞劇，一時帆船、長衫、東方善良的妓女成了西方人眼中的香港風情，而蘇絲黃身穿旗袍，長發披肩的形象也成了西方人眼中最初的東方女子的經典。

圖書館借來這本五十年代的經典，the international best seller. 書確實寫得不錯，蘇絲黃的中式英語簡單樸實，讓人產生一種簡潔的美感。蘇絲黃身在香港貧民區，沒有文化，愚昧虛榮，但是她的美麗聰慧，她的真誠善良，她的強烈的自尊與自卑，都令人感動。作為妓女，她沒有放棄對愛情與美好生活的向往，那份勇敢與執著，讓人唏噓讚歎。
