I did not dream about how you would come into my life
nor did I pictured how calm we were in the small office in city hall
Stood in front of a young lawyer who planned to follow us soon after
repeated after him the standard and poor's universal vow
as most of others did
We didn't even think about writing our own
but as I told you that I would promise to try
with actions to keep the vows sworn in my heart
So we did after all these years
in the standard and poor's curve
