譯自法語by me, 英語由Gemini proofread過
Einstein's Chauffeur
The great Albert Einstein, after discovering one of the greatest theories of the scientific world—on relativity and some principles of magnetic fields—devoted himself to numerous conferences in the United States. He had a vehicle and a chauffeur, always the same one, and traveled for years across American universities to explain his work to students and professors.
During a discussion on a journey, his chauffeur said to him:
"You know, Sir, it's been several years that I've been helping with your conferences. In fact, now I know them by heart, to the point that I could replace you without any worries."
"Excellent," replied Einstein, "precisely tonight we're going to a university where no one knows me. You give me your cap. I will pretend to be you, and you will pretend to be me."
And so it was done. The chauffeur gave the conference in Einstein's place, where he performed perfectly. Everyone in the conference room applauded.
After a long ovation, the chauffeur managed to reach the exit. A colleague called out to him at the door and asked him a question of astounding complexity regarding nuclear radiation.
The chauffeur thought it over for several seconds and answered:
"Your question surprises me, dear friend. The answer is totally simple, even childish. Come with me; we'll go together to see my chauffeur, and you will see he can give you the very same answer."
