I reserved a lake front condo in King's Beach for last weekend. At 4 O'clock Friday afternoon, while I was driving to there, they called me and asked for us to be relocated to Incline Villiage on Nevada side. I of course was unhappy with the last minute, abrupt change of plan, but at that point I didn't have many other choices. So I comforted my family that when we travel, change is inevitable from time to time and maybe the new condo was even better. The I-80 section from Sacremento to Truckee was under construction, some portions of the highway were foggy in the evening, and it was highly tensional to drive. When we got there, it was almost 8, two hours later than expected. Alicia, the one who rearranged our stay, was in the condo waiting to check us in on site (rather than for us to go to their office which is two miles away). The place was cozy, better than I thought. It was on the lake though we weren't able to see much outside in the dark. Better yet, it was cheaper and it saved us gas for the whole trip. :-) We had 什錦火鍋 for dinner. And then everyone held their equipment to browse or play on the Internet, except my father in law, who played piano for the whole night. I woke up at 6:30 Saturday morning and got up to prepare brunch. By 10:30, I finished baking, with 50 big 蟹殼黃. After 7+ years of baking break, I became pretty 手潮. These 蟹殼黃 that I made didn't look good, nor felt right. But luckily, they tasted Ok and my parents in law liked them. I went back to sleep for a couple of hours then while the rest of my family went out to tour the town. I spent the rest of the afternoon on the patio with my laptop on. Rice with last night's left over soup plus new vegetables, 梅菜扣肉 and 雞蛋羹 were what we had for dinner. We went out for a short walk along the lake. I even played the swing for a short while. Then we played 麻將。I used to have a distaste of this game much, especialy when it is connected with gambling. But my son likes it and it is one of the very few things that can take him away from video games. Like my mother and myself, my mother in law hates playing Mahjiong with money too. So we played it solely as a game. From 7:30 through 12:30 that night, we enjoyed the best Mahjiong games we ever had. Since we had five people, I shared a seat with my son M and the two of us took turns to play. In the very beginning I won quite a few rounds while I was the host. Then M extended my victory by winning some big ones. Gradually, everyone became declining in win small and all of us tried only win big. And we did! On our way back, my husband drove. We stopped Tahoe City and took some awesome pictures there. We then stopped at M's place, cooked and ate 牛肉麵 for lunner. Then we left M for home at 4:15. I was very tired after those three long days. But I am really happy since everyone else relaxed and enjoyed the trip. 1.
