Are you unsure what your manager will write on your performance review this year? Does your manager often change what he/she expects from you? Do you sometimes feel that you are not in control of the work you perform? You have more influence than you think. Employees can control their own performance by partnering with their managers to complete the following steps: List the key responsibilities of your job and set five challenging objectives for the next year. List the critical competencies of your job and create a personal development plan. Meet with your manager monthly and give a written report on the progress you have made on your objectives and development plan. Write the first draft of you own performance review.
