How to \'Stand Your Ground\'

Successful leaders know what they want, why they want it and how to get it. We all work with those few individuals who are naysayers or who block other peoples' ideas. When you know you are right, don't back down! You don't have to be argumentative, aggressive or angry. You have to fight for what you believe in. You need to be prepared, show passion and hold your position. The following tips will help you to "stand your ground": When people say, "That won't work", be prepared with facts, data and a business case why it will work. When you see unacceptable behavior, say why it is wrong and what you would rather see instead. Look people in the eye, smile and use a calm voice. Show your passion through your confidence. Admit when you are wrong and accept defeat gracefully. Work on standing your ground this week!
