Sometimes I wonder what Nathan have really learned from a full school year? Every day I see he brings a few pages home like coloring, tracing, or hand crafts. Every six weeks, I received an evaluation form reporting his progress. He seems doing very well but I have never had a complete picture of his school life by simply looking at all these paper works. The mystery revealed itself last Tuesday on his school’s “Family Day”. Here is the glory achievement list:
Songs
Counting the numbers 1-40
Shapes ( 12 + )
Color ( 12+ )
Spelling 4 color words, and numbers one to four
Themes learned in recent month
I may have missed a few things on the list but I was very happy with the showoff. Kids participated in their achievement show very well. His school should have all the credit because I rarely teach him those things at home. More importantly, he felt encouraged and was confident and happy throughout the demonstration. Learning happily is always our goal for him.
The Family Day also presented classroom pictures of major activities during the semester including Thanksgiving Pumpkin hunt, Christmas Santa visit, Valentines day candy trade, Fireman and fire truck visit, animal feed, and so on….I was impressed with the magnitude of activities at the school and truly felt that this is really a fun SCHOOL not a daycare tasked with simple maintenance.
I submitted the fall application for him today and wish all the best to the school.
