I never thought much about housekeeping before, simply assuming that it could be done if wanted, and hopefully not by me. Recently, however, several events prompted me to think about it and I began to appreciate how difficult good housekeeping really is.
The first event was the Scottish seeking independence. The British said that they had been ruling the United Kingdom well by following the law and asked why such fine housekeeping was not satisfactory to the Scottish. I can understand their hard feelings about the whole thing.
Next, there is the demonstration in Hong Kong, demanding complete direct election of the city's top leader. Some learned people pointed out that the Hong Kong people simply had had no say on the appointment of the local governor under the British rule and having even indirect election of the top leader is already progress over the past. In other words, the remote housekeeping by the Mainland's central government seems really not that bad.
Finally, we also have some Internet friends on this forum not satisfied with and criticizing the service provided by the forum's administrators. I must admit that our amateur service, or housekeeping, is indeed far from professional and I believe that we all welcome constructive critique and help; but the fact that we are amateurs means that we will make mistakes, probably more than what professionals do. Besides paying attention to what I do, I hope that we can all practice forgiveness and tolerance more here.
