Wow, this is a Green Card!
I picked mails and put them on the dinning table, then left for something else. My husband came in from back yard and looked them, screaming" It must be your GC, how come you even didnt open it?..." Then I walked out of study room and said very calmly " really?..." It seemed to me that my husband was appearing more excited than me when he held my GC. He handed it over to me, it is just a regular card, the size and weight, I mean it is not much different from others, like credit card, health insurance card, shopping card... However, the color of it made me feel " is it a real Green Card? Why is it not Green Color?"
Before coming to USA, when some friends and relatives talked about GC, the first thing came to my mind is the color----Green, because of the Green, the card seemed to me very mysterious. As a matter of fact, green usually symbolizes youth, health, purity, direction to go. When the green is added on a card by USCIS, which means that the person who holds it is allowed to stay and work freely in USA.
Yet, it is the true GC for me who can stay freely here although having experienced the tough journey. In fact, there is a strip in Green on the back of the card. Silly me, this is the card in reality as matched the “color”.
From now on, in reality I got one more card in my wallet!
