朋友發來的一個英文的生活哲理故事，我很喜歡，放在這裏和大家分享。懂英文的朋友看英文就好，我把它大略翻譯了一下，不懂英文的個別朋友可以用作參考。（原文已無法考察出處）。
A Jar and cups of coffee
When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with marbles.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the marbles.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The marbles are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --The small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the marbles.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
'Take care of the marbles first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'
如果你的生活繁忙，已難以承受，如果一天24小時對於你來說已經不夠用了，請記住美乃滋瓶罐和二杯咖啡的故事。
一位教授站在他的哲學課講台前。
開始上課了，他沒有開口說話，隻是拿起一個很大的空美乃滋蛋黃醬瓶，把裏麵裝滿了玻璃球。
然後，他問學生，瓶罐是不是已經裝滿了？
學生們回答裝滿了。
然後教授又拿起一盒小圓石頭，倒進了瓶罐裏，他輕輕搖了搖瓶子，讓小石頭滾進玻璃球的空隙中。
然後他又問學生瓶子是不是已經滿了？
他們同意它已經滿了。
教授接著拿起一盒沙子，倒進了瓶罐中。當然了，沙子填滿了瓶中所有的空隙。
他再次問，這個瓶子是不是已經裝滿了？學生一致回答：“滿了。”
教授，這時從桌子底下拿出兩杯咖啡，倒進了瓶罐中，咖啡迅速滲進了沙子中，將沙子之間的縫隙填滿。
學生們都笑了。
等到笑聲平息，教授開始說：“我希望你能認識到，這個瓶罐代表了你的生活。
玻璃球對於你來說最重要的東西--家庭、孩子、健康、朋友和你對生活的熱愛
如果你失去了其餘的一切，隻要他們還在，你的生活仍然會是完整的。
小圓石頭是其它一些重要的東西，比如你的工作、房子和汽車。
沙子是除此之外的事- - 那些小事。
“如果你把沙子先放到瓶罐中，”他繼續說，那麽就沒有空間放小圓石頭和玻璃球了，你的生活也是一樣的。
如果你把時間和精力都花費在小事上，那麽你將永遠沒有空間放那些對你來說最重要的東西。
所以……
把注意力放在那些和你的幸福攸關的事情上。
和孩子一起玩，
抽時間去體檢，
和伴侶一起出去吃飯。
總是會有時間打掃房子和修理廚房廢物處理器的。
“先照顧好大理石 – 這是真正重要的事情。設置好生活順序。剩下的，隻是沙子而已。“
一個學生舉起了手，詢問教授咖啡代表了什麽。
教授笑了：“很高興你問了這個問題。”
它隻是告訴你，無論你的生活多麽忙碌，總會有和朋友坐下來喝杯咖啡的時間。
