根據新加坡教育部在小學新生登記入學時所做的調查，新加坡講華語的家庭自上世紀90年代以來便一直減少，到了今天隻剩下約40％的家庭仍以華語作為主要用語，反之講英語的家庭卻從1990年的26％增至今年的60％。為了改變華語地位下降的趨勢，新加坡華語理事會從3月30日起推出“華文，誰怕誰”大挑戰活動，通過有趣的問答遊戲，讓新加坡公民以及永久居民親身參與，感受中華文化的博大精深，深化他們對華文華語的認識，並進一步提升他們的華語掌握能力。這個活動將持續3個月，每個月的積分前六名的新加坡人將參加麵試，最後選出6人參加在7月份舉行的電視總決賽。
第一周“華文，誰怕誰”的12個具有挑戰性的測試題如下，各位試試看，我覺得有些題對中國人而言難度係數也不小。附上英文版，順便也來個“英文，誰怕誰”：

這十二道題考的還不完全是漢語和中國文化，有些題純屬新加坡文化，對中國人來說當然很陌生，比如第6題（新加坡藝術家郭寶崑的作品）。其他的題目有的很容易，也有的相當生僻。主辦方給出的標準答案附在後麵，供各位參考。其中第9題（西方哪一個傳說與“何不食肉糜”類似），答案是法國路易十六的王後瑪麗65381;安托瓦內特對饑餓的法國人所說的 "那就改吃蛋糕嘛"（Let them eat cake）。這句話的法語原文是qu'ils mangent de la brioche，brioche應該是“麵包”而非“蛋糕”（cake）。這隻是一個民間傳說而已，渲染這位王後的驕奢與愚鈍。關於瑪麗65381;安托瓦內特，還有另外一個有名的傳說，當她在法國大革命中走上斷頭台時不小心踩到劊子手的腳，她以貴族的優雅習慣地：Monsieur， je vous demande pardon. Je ne l'ai pas fait exprès (先生，我請求您的原諒，我不是故意的)。
附錄：新加坡“華文，誰怕誰”挑戰第一周標準答案：
