活到老：旋轉門到底是幹嘛用的？

旋轉門Revolving door這東西，說起來是人類文明發展的重要一環，但你要說它沒什麽屁用也是對的。為什麽有這種差異，就要從旋轉門的起源說起。

當20世紀初人們開始把大樓越蓋越高之後，幾個以前沒遇到過的問題開始一一浮現，其中一個叫做煙囪效應chimney effect 。

在歐美地區室外較冷因此室內大多是開著暖氣，在大樓中的熱空氣會延著大樓內部往上升，而在大樓的低樓層形成一個吸力將外麵的空氣吸進去 (所以在有煙囪的金爐燒金紙的時候, 金紙放在旁邊就會自己被吸進去)。

這種現象在越高的大樓變得越明顯，當樓高到一定程度之後一般的門在開關時會伴隨有一股強大的氣流而造成開關門及人員進出的危險。而旋轉門的發明就是為了解決這個問題。在人進出的過程中旋轉門可以完完全全隔絕室內外的空間，因此室內外的空氣不會有對流，就不會有上述的問題。

另一個解決的方式就是設立雙層門，內外門不同時開就也可以達成隔絕內外空氣的效果。但是當人員進人出頻繁的時候內外門就常會同時被打開而失去作用。所以說起來，旋轉門是蓋摩天大樓的關鍵技術之一，甚至可以說，沒有旋轉門的話，或許現在也不會有摩天大樓了。

但是在不開暖氣的大樓，其實是沒有‘煙囪效應’這個問題的。安裝旋轉門純粹是崇洋媚外的表現，是多餘無用的裝飾品。
