24m update

healthy, happy, and nothing bad happened.

the weather is very weird, sometimes very cold, sometimes very warm. but her outdoor time is less nowadays. her morning walk has been cancelled by her daddy.

eat anything, her favourite vege would be water spinach, although she still fancy brocolli, carrot, patatoes, cauliflower, sweet yam leaves. she is also a big fan of sweet yam and nuts. she loves gold fish crackers and raisins and melon sweets, but i already ban them from her.

drink soy milk and cow milk. her daddy is concerned for the hormone issue and asking me to give her only 16oz per day.

sleeping has no problem. we usually do some readings before nap and bed time. occationally, she still wet diapers at night time, i think she is not really ready for diaper free at night. but she has no accidents for her nap.

speaking is getting better. she loves the books from Mo Willems and she learns sentences for his books. i heard her saying sentences like :
what is that?
thank you very much. 
you are welcome
what are you doing?
mama is eating dinner.
baba is sleeping
the leaves are dancing.

she is trying very hard to differentiate breakfast, lunck, dinner, snack and supper. she sometimes get them right but she still needs some times. but when she sees outside is dark, she knows it's night time, the sun is down and the moon is up.

no big improvement on her chinese. sometimes she still make mistake like : 媽媽給你吃飯while she wants to say: 媽媽給我吃飯. she knows her mistake and when i ask her to repeat her sentence, she would say it right. i guess she needs more times on that. but she says :my turn, your turn very well and use them correctly now.

from time to time she gives me small surprises like when she told me: 媽媽和我是friends.

when she is about to grab something from my hand, she would say: 我和媽媽打架. and if i want to take anything from her hand, she protests it and says the same sentence.

i wanted to get her some snacks, i said :我要給你拿...... my mind went somewhere and i didn't finished my sentence. she was excited and asked me: 什麽?  i was shocked but happy to her quick and correct response.

i notice she starts to use the word: 的, before this she always miss this word.

play: her pretend play is getting more and more interesting. we are reading a book about pizza making. she loves feeding me her wooden pizza and loves going to a pizza shop to watch the real thing. she eats lots of pizzas now. she also likes to inspect the eyes, ears, mouth, sometimes even nose of herself and others. she also likes to place the wire on her stuffed toy and pretend she is checking the heatbeat. i think i really need to get her the medical toy set.

athough she says sentences now, she still could not tell a story. she is still working very hard to grasp the idea of how things are done. that's why she is particularly interested how things are made, where are people coming or going. however very often she is satisfy with short answers and stop questioning.

i asked her where is her daddy going, she said: to the subway station.
why is daddy going to the subway station?
to take the subway
where is he going?
going home
what is he going to do at home?
eat and sleep

she knows the subway brings her daddy home from the lab, but failed to make the connection that the same subway brings her daddy to lab from home. but i am working on this. i changed my story telling skill a bit. instead of telling her everything we see from the book, i ask her to tell me where she could see. slowly i ask her questions that relates to other things outside the book, hope she could grasp more ideas and concepts outside the books.

i played some videos and do story telling. she is not interested at all. she just treat them as back ground sound.

her biggest achievement lately is overcoming the fear of taking shower. she actually enjoy them and likes to stay under the shower feeling the water for as long as a minute. she calls the shower "raining", and she used to scare of "raining" because she accidently turned on the shower when she was small while taking a bath with me. since then, she makes sure no water lands on her head. for that reason, she couldn't enjoy herself while playing in water fountain in the park last summer. i am sure next summer, she would wet herself thoroughly.
