樂隊的名字在英文中叫做Evanescence，中文媒體一般翻譯做幻滅，其意思就是"某事物消失的過程和狀態"。幻滅最成功的單曲叫做Bring Me to Life，這首單曲在全世界範圍內受到了好評，並且曾經在美國Billboard最棒的100首歌中排名到第五。電影《夜魔俠》（Daredevil）中也用此曲作為音軌，除此之外還有另外一首膾炙人口的歌曲我的永生（My Immortal）。2004年的格萊美獎表彰了幻滅樂隊做出的貢獻：他們獲得了最佳硬搖滾演出獎和最佳新人獎...

艾米(Amy Lee)是小石城出去的歌手，小學曾讀Pulaski Academy。這也是兒子讀的學校，也是他喜歡的歌手。聽多了，也成了我喜歡的少有的幾個英文歌手之一。她的歌"Bring me to life"是那種好象你半支腳進了地獄，或者好象在夢中想醒又不能醒那種狀態。不過我最喜歡的還是上麵這首"My Immortal"，也許這首歌更舒情些。不知你有沒有注意到，美國的一些流行的樂隊，如果是女的為主角，樂隊名則以女主角的名字命名為多，而男主角的則一般不用自己的名字作樂隊的名。幻滅就是例外之一。
