“愚公移山”“鐵棒磨成針” - 智慧乎，愚蠢乎？

我實在想象不出有什麽事比“愚公移山”“鐵棒磨成針”這樣的事更愚蠢的了。人區別於動物的最大特征就在於思考的功能（感性與理性雙方麵的），人的生命的自我完成，就在於最大限度地成全這個功能。而把人的一生的智能貢獻與某一種單一的工作，使人在有限的生命中無法去成全豐富多彩的智能，這是人對生命的最大浪費。

中國傳統文化鼓勵人對技藝“精湛”的崇拜（“玉不琢，不成器”“備物致用，立成器以為天下利”），其實是功利主義的人生觀的結果。這個流傳幾千年的意識形態，在中國人心中已經根深蒂固。我個人認為這個功利之極的人生態度其實是中國文化的最弱最害人的環節，是中國人的最大悲劇。而現代社會的詳盡分工，把人訓練成專家，成為現代社會大機器的一個部件的現實，是人的異化的結果，也是現代人的最大悲劇。

i agree with what you said. i think we both are right because this type of metaphorical saying contain different aspects.
while your understanding is very true, another side of story is that many people use this teaching to kill many children/students' curiosity, make them just focus on one technique alone. make life boring.

The story is not about the stupity but about the philosophy of patience and slow life, instead of fast life.
