aldonati1 - Tuesday September 16, 2008 11:43AM EDT The hardest part of change is accepting the new realities of our country's financial situation. Once we understand it, we can accept it. It's too late to reverse decades of globalization and it's effects, the horse has already left the barn folks, now it's a matter of how are going to deal with the psycology of our loss. This mess has been brewing for 30 years, you cannot turn a ship around like you do a car. Even our government is in a panic, that is why they are bailing out the major corporations, today they want to lower interest rates again, they just infused 70 billion dollars into the banking system, they don't even know what to do anymore. It's like the Titanic is sinking, everyone is screaming and no one can do anything about it, not even the captain of the ship. I say SING YOUR HEARTS OUT, we can cry or sing, the ship is going to sink either way,
SING our national anthem with pride and glory my fellow AMERICANS, let's stop crying, our enemies are laughing and getting joy from our screaming at one another, let's accept the course we're on, and make the best of whatever is in store for us.

Everyone who is in debt from our Federal, State, Local governments, Corporations, homeowners, Jones chasers, credit cards, are responsible for the demise of this country. From what I can see, even if China, Russia etc... opened up the spigot of more credit to us, and lent us all of the money to bail our whole nation out, we would have only postponed the problem to the next generation, and impoverished our country to the point of no return, because we as a people still don't know that debt is bad on all levels. I read the blogs and everyone is blaming everyone else but themselves, with micro solutions and patchwork mentality . If you are in debt, you are a part of the problem. OUR ADDICTION IS DEBT, we seem to want just one more fix.
mum153e - Tuesday September 16, 2008 12:09PM EDT Yes, the whole country is in a pickle....the government is the biggest debtor and gambler. We borrowed trillions from China, wasted trillions in Iraq...some well known Presidents enriched their friends....good paying manufacturing jobs went overseas...Americans are addicted to cheap goods...our energy policy is non-existant... And here we go...I feel like I am on the Titanic and our goverment is reaaranging the deck chairs....
g.kenner - Tuesday September 16, 2008 12:32PM EDT As the voice told Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz... don't pay any attention to the man behind the curtin. What I find very unsual is that somehow the media is presenting Wall Street types like Space Aliens. If there are no more Banks and Brokers does that mean that we not only don't have investments but we dont have to pay our Mortgages? Just my view but this is the "Greater Depression"... it is just the poison is on a slower delivery path to the body. This is no longer just housing... this now the banks and insurcance companies, an without the banks there is no way to help housing. Now way to help housing there is no way to recover. In a few years the markets will figure out that Credit Scores don't work that only Equity should overcome a lenders objections. We went to the dark side when we started looking at credit scores instead of the people and the equity that they held in a property.
