我的婆婆第一次見到我就喜歡上我了。那時我和我先生dating了半年左右。她和公公住在西岸， 我們在東岸，所以我們了半年後才有機會與他們見麵。婆婆六十四歲，身高５'８。唉，稱婆婆好象把她講得太老了，就叫她Barbara吧。
When she first met me she already knew a lot about me through my husband. She asked me some questions about China and she said she would like to go to China. She has been to Hong Kong in the late 90's with her husband, however she did not have the chance to go to China. She is very fit and healthy and that is because she has very board interest: running, traveling, scuba diving, tennise, etc.
She used to own a executive search firm, she sold the company in late 90's and now she is helping her husband for his schedule. 公公 is a psychiatrist and has a very busy schedule. He is a very nice and warm person.
Barbara has two sons, my husband is the older one; the younger one is 3 years younger. 公公 is her second husband, Barbara divorced her first husband who was my husband's biological father long time ago when my husband was still a teenager. She is a very independent and strong woman.
She spent 5 years in Africa with her first husband and two kids. She did a lot of painting of Africa people and scenery. Some of those paintings are in her website, some of them are in her home, some of them are in a Art Gallery. She has a studio in her home to do painting and other stuff. I really lovedher paintings. She has sent me a lot of post card size postcards of her paintings. They are very special and beautiful. Because of this, any movie about African she would love to watch. I just wrote her an email to ask her to see the new movie called " Blood Diamond".This movie is talking about how much blood was shed when getting diamond in Africa, which makes me to look at my diamond ring and wonder whether it is a conflict diamond?
Every year she goes to Hawii to spend her Christmas with her husband. Every time when she comes to our city to visit us she will give everyone presents. We call her "the present giver". We joked that her job now is buying gifts and giving to people. She loves to give present to people that she loves. My husband is totally spoiled when he is a young boy. Last year we spent Christmas together with her, she totally spoiled my daughter. I will have a separate article about that trip later.
She never give us pressure. She just want us to be happy. I felt really lucky to have such an understanding mother in law. I am looing forward to seeing her sometime soon.
