Poster Competition was over!

The 14th annual poster competition finished on Thursday night, Feb 16, 2006. My poster ranked 3rd, a little disappointed. But finally it is over. I spent a lot of time on it, and do believe that I can get a good performance at the start of event when I saw others posters. But all the other contestants are from the same group, even under the same supervisor. Everyone attend the seminar(dining meeting) can vote, including us participants, which sure will push me to a disadvantage position. Though a little disappointed with the ranking, I did learn something from it and gained experience. I believe that for such kind of poster competition, there are at least three critical factors, one is the design/layout of the poster, secondly will be the subject of the poster, third will be your explannation/introduction, and another one will be how many people you acquainted with. It is better to choose a subject which is interesting and easy to be understood by even ordinary people not from your field. The introduction should be very concise and systematical.
