TN Inc in Canada Tax issues

Hi , I am s/w developer in US for a short term ( 3 month ) contract on TN. I have an INC in Canada. My US Employer asked for a TIN for my Canadian INC before he could issue a cheque for my company. Could some one pls let me know how best to handle this. Am I better off just getting paid on 1099? Would it not be better to route the income thru my Canadian Inc ( for tax reasons )? Thanks
