for the record, about Wendy Deng etc,

there are two kind of people in this world, one who born with certain positions, one who have to earn those positions by exchanging it with some of the virtues or properties of their own,

I belong to the later, unlike Duke, I was born from a very poor countryside, where I still go visit every time I have a chance to see my grandma, and my uncle and aunts, who raised me through my toddle years.

the other day I viewed the video on top, 激流中國, I found that I identify with almost all people there, from the very poor to the top rich, (even I'm far from that level financially). While NHK might want to convey the potential conflict, I see a great common for all the people there, that they strive to find every opportunities around them to change the fate that they were given, to get prosperous, against all the odds.

so have myself, like many here, like many from all the human's history.

or, if I can, like most from all the human's history,

except, maybe, those born privileged,

now, critically, for those who had to strive, how,

how do they try to change the fate assigned to them?

some have used their brain, some their hand, some using their legs or arms,
(incidentally, 劉翔 and 姚明 come into mind), some using their look, their other virtues.

or any combination of all above,

but to the end, I really can't intellectually see what, if there is any, difference in those means,

now, you might ask, "if so, anything goes?"

well, there are probably two level of judgements. One is at legal level, (which I don't believe I need to waste any energy there). One is at the moral level.

however, there are very critical difference between these two standard. The first one, legal, is well defined and commonly accepted (even you may disagree with either spirit of letters of a law, you still have to obey). The moral standard, on the other side not so well defined, is vague, shirting, and very often hypocritical or hysterical, and worst of all, often morphs into a self-serving tool for various interest groups.

so if you ask me, personally, I will go with the likely most common denominator of all moral standards,

"no harm, no fault."

to come all the way around, I deeply respect any and all human's efforts in pursuing their own liberty and happiness, I don't look up or look down anyone based on what I believe in myself, or based on the fact if they are successful in their effrots or not,

I only hope, that at the end of day, their efforts produce a net gain in terms of liberty and happiness for the part of the world they are associated with,
