3 year old: "money store". It was a place people could get money. Since dad and mom got everything from stores, there should be a store where people could get money.
4 year old: "money store" and "money bank". Money store was where people could "buy" money. He actually bought once the fake money and he thought it was real one. Money bank was the place where the ATM machine sits and people could get money for free. He saw dad getting money there a few times.
5 year old: no "money store". The money he bought was fake. "Money bank" was the place where people got money.
Last saturday we went together to deposit his mom's pay check and got 100 dollar cash. On the way back, he asked me: why did the money bank give people money for free (he knew money was useful and he had to earn it)? I said that the money bank did not give me free money. His mom and I earned money and then we saved the money in the money bank. We should not keep too much money at home in case a fire or somethings like that happend.
He thought a little bit over and asked me if the fire happended in the bank, then my money would still be burned.
I told him not to worry, the bank would pay us because they had many computers to keep the record and they could figure out.
"Then the bank will lose the money", he said.
......
I have not figured out a good explanation for him so he can understand the way how the system works.
